The Ramakrishna Ashrama, Penang is a charitable organisation founded in 1938 under the inspirational guidance of His Holiness Swami Bhaswarananda Maharaj, who was then stationed in the Ramakrishna Mission, Singapore.
Among other activities, the Ashrama runs an Orphanage catering for both boys and girls, whose ages range from 7 to 20 years. The Orphanage admits children who are orphaned, children who have lost either one of their parents and needy children from poor or broken families. These children, who are victims of circumstances, deserve society's assistance and the Ashrama does its level best to provide for their needs.
The children in the Orphanage are given a proper education in a noble effort to mould them into useful citizens. Besides education, the girls learn tailoring, embroidery, cooking and house keeping. They are also send to pursue courses in higher institutions of learning if they perform well academically.
Despite receiving a partial subsidy from The Ministry of Welfare Services, Malaysia, the cost of maintaining the Orphanage has increased tremendously over the past few years. The Executive Council of the Ramakrishna Ashrama is doing its best to offset the increasing costs from donations and contributions received from members of the public from all communities.
We therefore appeal to all well wishers and kind hearted members of the general public to spare a thought and to donate whatever amount you wish to The Ramakrishna Ashrama, Penang.
Any donation however small will go a long way in helping the Orphanage.
All donations will be duly acknowledged and all such payments are EXEMPTED FROM INCOME TAX.
We thank you and look forward to hear from you.
